happy halloween!

i hope you all have a fun and safe halloween tonight! we took asher out with a few or our neighbors and their kids to trick-or-treat at the outdoor shopping center just down the road. we had a good time and asher got LOTS of compliments on his costume. we dressed him up like squirt from finding nemo (thanks lisa!! it was an awesome idea!) and we got the costume for a great deal. these are just some quick shots to give you an idea. more pictures to come!

Game on...

asher
saw justin's football behind the chair today and spent a lot of energy trying to get it out. finally i realized what he was doing and got it for him. he had a good time rolling it all over the living room.

he sure seemed to like the taste of it... yucky!

for a while it was like he was wrestling it. he is so funny. in the end i think asher won!

then daddy came home and they played together for a little bit. sweet little hands.

nothing better...

one of my FAVORITE things in the whole world is when my baby wakes up happy! i love to hear his little play sounds coming from behind his door, and i love that he is happy to see me again after his nap!

my baby bird

lunch with asher was fun today. he has traded in his ways of always grabbing the spoon for imitating a tiny baby bird. he opens his mouth, stretches out his neck and waits! it's very cute and a lot less messy. happy mom.

this was also hilarious. asher made a friend with the slight reflection of himself that he found in the high chair tray. he would take a bite, find his reflection, laugh, try to give it kisses but he couldn't quite reach, then take another bite. so funny.

my big standing up boy

asher has been standing up to furniture for a few weeks now, but it would take him a while to get up with a little bit of a struggle. now he just pops up. this isn't the best shot of it, but it's what i have. also, he is so tough...nothing keeps him down! i love this little boy.

halloween dance and BBQ

justin took this quick video clip with his cell phone the other night. we spent the day with our sister and brother-in-law. first we went to Thriller at Kingsbury Hall, where i was sufficiently freaked out, but it was very entertaining! thanks for letting us go with you guys! then hannah and i hung out together while asher took a nap and the boys played football. after that we went to dinner at famous dave's BBQ which we all really enjoyed. asher was a champ at dinner and as you can see he really likes playing with his aunt hannah. thanks again for the great day!

asher wants his mamma

this is pretty long... so, watch it if you want. it's justin and asher playing on the couch. this was right before his nap and he was getting cranky, but usually he really likes this game. my favorite part of this little movie is when he is crawling to me, stops about half way there and gives me this "i'm so super sad and i want you NOW!" look. also, right at the end doesn't it sound like he says "mom, mom"?

giggles

justin was being silly and asher thought it was funny, except for when he was distracted by the camera. enjoy.

playtime with dad...

it's magical.

sack of potatoes...

i remember being carried like this.

new friends at the toy store...

so, you know how asher gives sweet little kisses sometimes...well, we went to this great toy store the other day and as soon as i put him on the floor he crawled over to this dinosaur. he got up on his knees, grabbed both sides of it's big soft face and started giving it lots of sweet little kisses.

it made me think that he at least knows that you can kiss things you like. usually he will give kisses if i say something about it, but this time he did it all on his own. it was adorable. too bad the dinosaur costs $109.00 :(

just waiting for slowpokes mom and dad...

asher is very patient. we do have our freak out moments, but most of the time he is great at going with the flow...which means waiting around every now and again. sometimes we'll get him in his car seat and all ready to go, but then it takes us a little longer to get ourselves ready, so he just waits. what a trooper. but, i doubt it would go so smoothly without the comfort of the two fingers. p.s. i can't believe his feet are hanging off the edge of that seat! the day we brought him home his little toes didn't even come half way to the end.

they grow up fast...

and i don't just mean my baby. asher loves his uncle isaiah. everyone loves isaiah! sometimes i just can't get over how grown up zay is getting because it's so easy for me to still remember when he was just a little guy. but, he has always been the same in some aspects. he has always been kind and loving. he has always been curious and proactive. he has always been obedient and respectful. he has always been smart and funny. and he is just getting better with age. when i was visiting my family recently it hit me again how wonderful isaiah is. he is handsome, strong, helpful, cheerful, gentle, faithful, and cool. my dad always calls him sharp. i agree with that. i believe that zay can handle any challenge that comes his way. i love you isaiah. thanks for being such an awesome brother and uncle!!

cords, wires, and zipper pulls...

asher has a real talent for finding any cords, wires, strings, straps, or zippers...even if they are hidden, and especially if they are dangerous.

this was hilarious because he didn't use his hands to get the strap into his mouth. he just balanced there for a while trying to grab it with his lips...kind of like the donut on a string game if you can picture that.

he was really happy when it finally went in!

sweet family...

i took some family pictures for our friends the other day. these are my favorites!

asher means happy

...and he is.

hang out time

asher was being cute so i took a few pictures. i had just put him in his new warm pajamas and he was doing this singing/fake screaming thing that he often does, rolling around on the carpet and crawling up close to me and my camera. he is such a talker already. it will be fun to hear what he has to say someday.

our trip to silver lake...

my guys.

we really enjoyed our little trip to sliver lake up big cottonwood canyon. it was beautiful and we were together!

justin is so busy lately that when we get to do things like this i feel like i am in heaven.

there were some precious father/son moments that i just loved watching.

asher
really likes to be outside.

a very happy day.

fun sunday afternoon...

asher has a little yellow rubber duck that he likes to put half way into his mouth and crawl around like that. i get a kick out of it, but i pretty much get a kick out of everything he does!

this is a picture of asher and his second cousin kaylie. kaylie was kind enough to share her headband with asher! i just kept thinking "boy, are my daughters going to be cute or what?"

aunt liv

man is she beautiful! inside and out!!! olivia is so awesome, and she can always make me laugh. i am sooooo glad that i know her. i love my little sister and asher loves his aunt!

well, here is my FAVORITE story of the evening. we were spending some time at my mom's house and asher was just playing on the floor with liv. i guess she was giving him kisses and right when my mom and i looked over at them he looked at her, grabbed her face, puckered up and kissed her!!! it was the most adorable thing i have ever seen! i said "yeah, asher! do it again." and he did. he must have kissed her 7 or 8 times. once it even made a smoochy sound. i was laughing so hard i didn't even think to take pictures or video. he has done it a few more times since then, but only to aunt liv, aunt hannah and me.

very ambitious...

this was when asher was starting to pull himself up on furniture. he even used his toy basket which was funny because it's not a very sturdy basket. for a second it was like he was surfing or something, but he eventually caught his balance and came out of the whole thing smiling. like always.

what a cute little body!

yummy veggies...

asher's first experience with green beans. it was a success!

like i said, he likes to hold on to the spoon...always!

and, no. we do not get a break from the two fingers, not even at dinner time.

he also really liked carrots.

now here is an intense picture. the fingers don't come out until the last possible second before the spoon goes in. then replace the fingers and repeat.

i also really love his new high chair. it saves a lot of room because it just attaches to our normal kitchen chairs. great idea.

i love these pictures because...

1. the expression on his face in the first photo.
2. the expression on his face in the second photo.
3. the expression on his face in the third photo.
4. how small he looks sitting there.
5. how short his legs look in those jeans.
6. that he was having a bad hair day and has a major puff on top.
7. how much he likes to dump out his toy basket and play on our new fuzzy carpet rug.
8. that my best friend is six months old.

i'm stuck...

so, asher is a pretty active little guy, right? well, one day we went to get him after a nap and he was standing up, somewhat hanging over the crib rails. talk about heart stopper. we didn't even know he could stand up! but, i guess that is how it happens. so, we promptly lowered the mattress all the way down which helped calm our fear of him falling out. the next problem was that he could now kneel or stand up but he didn't know how to get back down. i think this made him more frustrated then anything else. now he is a pro. up, down, all around. p.s. justin took this picture. i couldn't have handled that face!

too sweet

funny face.

i love him!

shopping with dad

justin is a fantastic daddy and husband! i needed to go to the general relief society broadcast one saturday evening but we hadn't done our grocery shopping for the week yet. justin said he and asher would get it done. when they came home justin said asher did really well and he showed me this great picture that he took with his cell phone camera. this was the first time asher sat like a big boy in the shopping cart. what a trooper!
